Composite Veneers- an alternative to porcelain
Composite veneers, also known as ‘same day veneers’, are a less invasive way to restore your smile. If you have worn, chipped or damaged teeth then composite resin can be sculpted directly onto the teeth to produce beautiful, lifelike results. What are composite veneers?
Composite veneers are a conservative alternative to porcelain and are made from translucent resin that is carefully sculpted and hardened by your dentist in a single appointment. Composite veneers work just like porcelain veneers. You can use one on any tooth that you could otherwise get a porcelain veneer on. It’s a cosmetic treatment that primarily enhances the look of front teeth. You can get just one veneer or several to make your smile look better and give your confidence a huge boost. Composite versus porcelain?
Composite is more versatile than porcelain, lasts 5-7 years and is much less expensive at around £200-£400 per tooth, compared with £650-950 per tooth for porcelain. Also, they are the fastest type of dental veneer and can be done in one appointment. They are less invasive than the traditional veneer as there is no need to grind down healthy teeth to dramatically improve the smile. They are also much easier to repair and maintain.
However, it is more difficult to get as natural a finish as with porcelain veneers and they are more susceptible to damage. In addition, they are just as prone to staining as your natural teeth are, where as porcelain ones are not.
