Six Month Smile is a fixed brace system which means it is bonded on to your teeth in a very safe and reversible manner. This means that during the treatment the brace remains in place at all times and cannot be removed. Some people find this is a much easier option as they may not be as inclined to wear a removable brace as much as is needed.
At your first visit you will have a free consultation with our smile advisor Rachel who will go over any concerns or questions you might have. Once you have decided that the Six Month Smile treatment is right for you, and our dentist has agreed you are suitable, you will then have an appointment to have impressions and photographs taken of your teeth. These are then sent off to America for the treatment to be planned by a highly skilled technician at Six Month Smiles.
Once the brace has been made it is sent back to us and we arrange an appointment for you to have it fitted on. At this visit you will be given instructions on how to care for your Six Month Smile in-between visits to us. We will then see you for visits at around six week intervals to check on progress and change any bands or wires as necessary for your treatment.

How much does Six Month Smiles cost?
We know that cost can be a big factor in choosing whether to have orthodontic treatment done. Six Month Smile treatment can vary in cost depending on the simplicity or difficulty of the case so it can be hard to give an exact costing without having the dentist assess the person wanting the treatment.
Once this has been assessed you will be given a treatment plan detailing the cost. This is not all payable at once and can be spread out over the course of the treatment, or credit can be obtained for treatment at the surgery.

Does the Six Month Smile system hurt?
Six Month Smiles uses low force to move teeth more comfortably. However, as with any orthodontic appliance there can be some discomfort. Many people assume that with the short treatment time that more force will be used on the teeth to move them but this is not true. As the treatment focuses on the teeth most seen when you smile, it can be done at a much lower force which is much more comfortable for the wearer.
How visible is the Six Month Smile Brace?
The Six Month Smile brace is made up of clear brackets which are fixed to your teeth and a tooth coloured wire is then placed. It is more visible than some other forms of cosmetic orthodontics, but is one of the most discreet fixed orthodontic systems used today. Most people find that the short amount of time the treatment is completed in is preferable to a system which is more undetectable.
What happens after treatment?
As with any type of orthodontics you will need to have some type of retention in place once treatment is finished to prevent the teeth from drifting back. We offer retention as part of the treatment. At your last visit you will be fitted with either a removable retainer, which is clear but worn at night times only, Or a fixed wire which is discreetly attached to the inside of your teeth to keep them in place.
