Coping with TMJ: Identifying Bad Habits
If you suffer from a condition known as Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ), there are specific bad habits which can make painful symptoms even worse. Always consult with your dentist in order to learn more. Here are three suggestions to keep in mind.
– If you are stressed, try to avoid tensing the muscles in your jaw.
– Do not use your teeth to open food packages or to chew ice.
– Correct bad posture, as a tight upper back will increase tension within the jaw.
”Your teeth were meant to chew food, not to open packages, chew on pens, bite your fingernails, or crunch ice.”
