Pregnancy Gum Disease Symptoms, Treatments and Preventions
Lactating mothers are advised to visit the dentist regularly to prevent pregnancy-related gum disease, also called gingivitis. This condition is caused by hormonal changes.
Facts about pregnancy gingivitis:
– Pregnancy increases your progesterone levels and creates a bacteria-suitable environment that leads to gum disease.
– Symptoms include redness, severe swelling, bleeding and bad odour are symptoms.
– Prevent pregnancy gingivitis by brushing and flossing your teeth at least twice daily, rinsing with mouthwash, and eating a healthy diet.
See your dentist regularly for checkups and to get teeth cleaned to prevent gum disease.
