Dr Shi Karim is a Dental Phobia Certified dentist Click Here to verify.
My name is Shi Karim and I am the Clinical Director at Church Road Dental and Cosmetics. I qualified at the University of Liverpool in 2003 and since qualifying I have attended many post-graduate courses worldwide to futher my knowledge in the dental field. I have sat and passed post graduate royal college of surgeon exams and am continually studying, attending courses and pushing myself to further my knowledge in the dental field.
My area of expertise is cosmetic dentistry and have helped numerous patients achieve their dream of a new smile. This is using the most up to date and technologically advanced treatments available. My preference is using minimally invasive treatments such as orthodontics and aesthetic composites but I also have a wealth of experience in placing veneers, crowns and bridges and implants and this can be seen by the cases in my smile gallery. I am also renowned for my treatment of nervous patients and pride myself on good communication to help to relieve any dental phobias that they may have. This is why I have received the recognition of being dental phobia certified.
I am looking at sitting my examinations with the Royal College of Surgeons for a Diploma in Implant Dentistry later this year.
In my spare time I am fanatical about playing and following sports. I visit the gym at 6:00 before work every morning. My belief is that a healthy body also leads to a healthy mind. I am also a very keen Aston Villa supporter (somebody has to be!)
I am married to Gemma who is a primary school teacher at Thorn Grove School in Cheadle Hulme. We have 2 young children who take up most of our weekends.
I am immensely passionate about dentistry and making sure that our dental practice is constantly thriving for the highest possible standards of dentistry and patient comfort. This passion is reflected in my enthusiasm which will rub off on even the most phobic of patients to ensure a pleasant and pain free experience.
I joined the team here at Church Road Dental and Cosmetic in 2013 as a cosmetic dentist.
I’ve always had an eye for detail, which is why I knew dentistry was the career for me.
I learned my craft at The University of Manchester, qualifying in 2007 and completed the Royal College of Surgeons MJDF postgraduate qualification before moving into private practice. I am also a full member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Always eager to continue learning, I gained a Masters degree in Restorative Cosmetic Dentistry from The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in 2013, and shortly after completed a two-year Diploma in Dental Implantology from the same institution in 2015. I was also proud to be named the North West’s Best Young Dentist at the 2012 Dentistry Awards, acknowledging my achievements in the profession to date.
Having worked in private practice since 2008, my special interests are in complex restorative cosmetic and implant dentistry. From placing veneers and implants, right through to bridges, crowns and teeth straightening, I enjoy the intricacy that this type of dentistry brings.
In terms of teeth straightening, I offer short-term orthodontic treatments including Invisalign, lingual braces (fitted inside the teeth and ‘invisible’ to others) and traditional braces (fitted to the outside of teeth).
I complement my dental services with facial aesthetic treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers.
Outside of work, I swap my dental cloak for running shoes and get out into the hills with my partner Laura for fell and trail running. I enjoy keeping fit and like to escape to the Lake District when I can to tick off another mountain range!

Hi, my name is . I am a hygiene therapist and have worked in dentistry fsince 2006. You will find me here on Thursdays.
Much of my role involves helping patients to maintain their oral health and providing treatment in all aspects of gum care.
Like the other hygiene therapists here at Church Road, I am focused on providing patients with the best standards of care treatment. I take a preventive approach to treatment and making sure my patients have the correct home care to ensure their teeth and gums are healthy. I am passionate about my job and attended regular courses and events.
In my spare time you’ll often find me scuba diving or baking a cake! (I’m a big Mary Berry fan).
My name is Natalie. I'm one of the hygienists at Church Road, and you will find me here on a Monday and a Tuesday.
It is thought that about 40% of adults have periodontitis (gum disease), many won't even realise.
My role involves screening for, treating, and helping to prevent gum disease.
The biggest part of treating and preventing the disease is having a good oral hygiene routine- I work with patients to tailor a brushing and cleaning routine that is effective and suits them.
Once a good routine is established treatment can begin. This involves thorough cleaning of the tooth, root, and periodontal pocket, and may take place over a number of appointments.
I really enjoy working as a hygienist as I have the opportunity to meet and help people. I also like being part of the team, as I work closely with the dentists, nurses, practice manager, and reception staff.
Outside of work, I enjoy walking, as I live in Disley and have the beautiful Lyme Park right on my doorstep. I also have started to run. I have taken part in three 10ks so far, and hope to eventually progress to half marathons.
Hi, I'm Rachael and I am a qualified Dental Hygienist and Therapist. I am also able to undertake fillings as a therapist and continually want to develop my skills. In my free time I enjoy squash, trekking and swimming, and my goal is to swim across Lake Windermere. I look forward to meeting you soon.
