Tooth decay is twice as common as arm fractures in children under 10
A recent report has revealed the shocking statistics that twice as many children need hospital treatment for tooth decay than for fractured arms.
Key takeaways:
– Over a one-year period (2016-2017), 34,200 children under 10 years of age needed hospital treatment for tooth decay in England.
– In the same year, only 17,000 children were treated for arm fractures.
– Tooth decay can easily be prevented by regular brushing of teeth, reduced sugar consumption and regular visits to the dentist.
“NHS dental treatment is free for all under-18s.”
