Are Dental Implants Manchester Expensive?

If you’ve been looking into you might already have a good idea that they are classed as the most advanced form of missing tooth replacement. You might also be aware that on the face of it, they aren’t cheap. However if you consider the long-term picture, dental implants actually offer real value for money. Here’s why…

Permanent fixture

Let’s say you went to a Didsbury dental practice and had a dental crown fitted or a conventional dental bridge. Although they both do a job of protecting a damaged tooth or plugging a missing gap, the issue is that they aren’t a permanent fixture. Conversely, at our , implants are secured down into the jawbone by means of a titanium root. As the surrounding bone tissue merges and fuses with it over time, it creates a super-strong permanent fixture in the mouth. If looked after, implants have been known to last for forty years or more.  Conversely, the shelf life of a dental bridge or crown is around 7-10 years only

Implants halt any underlying issues

One of the major stumbling blocks with conventional missing tooth replacements such as dentures and bridges is that they can cause underlying issues. Bridges for example rely on adjacent teeth which have to be ground down and shaped to support the framework for the bridging tooth. This may cause further dental problems later on. Dentures on the other hand sit on the gum line and as chewing takes place, will (over a period of years) wear away the bone tissue in a process known as resorption. Eventually the shape of the jaw changes and the old denture needs to be replaced. As a result, ongoing costs of dental work for both dentures and bridges can mount up.

Dental implants equals zero costs moving forwards

Although initially dental implants in Manchester may be twice the cost of conventional tooth replacement to fit, the ongoing costs should be zero. Aside from a routine check-up every 6 months or so,  patients with dental implants should have no added costs. This means no ongoing future dental work relating to their missing teeth replacement, and no ongoing costs for fixatives and sterilising tablets to hold and maintain their prosthetic teeth.

As you can see, dental implants may initially seem expensive, but when you look at the bigger picture, they really do provide patients with a cost effective and hassle-free form of tooth replacement that will last for many years to come.
