Can Tooth Decay Lead to a Dead Tooth?
We all aim to protect our teeth against cavities by regularly brushing and visiting the dentist. Still, there may be instances when a cavity can lead to the death of a tooth. How might this occur?
– Any cavity that is left untreated can impact the pulp.
– Bacteria may then enter this pulp.
– If there is a build-up of bacteria, the pulp and the tooth could become necrotic. This will require a root canal or an extraction.
