Composite Bonding- A quick guide

Composite bonding is a really popular treatment for giving the teeth a straighter, more uniform appearance. It offers a more affordable option to the traditional porcelain veneers, and is a much quicker treatment too.

What happens during the treatment?
During the process, a tooth coloured resin is shaped around the patient’s own teeth to lengthen edges, alter the shape or size, and fill in gaps. This means there is minimal damage to the patient’s natural teeth because the original teeth do not need to be altered in any way first. It also means that the procedure can be done in one visit (following a planning appointment) as the procedure takes place while the patient is sitting in the chair. The new smile is created by the dentist there and then in the surgery, rather than having to wait for the laboratory to make them, as is the case with porcelain veneers.

How much does composite bonding cost?
Composite bonding costs between £200 and £350 per tooth, depending on how much of the tooth needs to be altered. They will typically last between four and eight years, depending on the location of the bonded tooth, the patient’s bite and their eating habits.

In as little as one or two hours, this treatment can make the teeth look absolutely straight, almost like you’ve had a brace. If you have chipped or uneven edges, gaps between the teeth or even mild crowding or crooked teeth then this treatment could give you the straight smile you’ve always wanted.

If you think you might be interested in having this treatment you can book in for a free Zoom consultation with Jane, where she can advise you on what you would need doing and how much it would cost. Alternatively, if you would just like some more information about it please feel free to call the practice.

In Summary:

Cost: £200-£350 per tooth

Number of visits: 1 (plus a planning appointment)

Time needed: 60-120 minutes

How long they last: 4-8 years
