How Six Month smiles can help you

Everybody should be able to smile with confidence. Chances are, if you’re reading this
you’re not happy with your smile.
If you’re looking for a quick acting, cosmetic brace that is going to fit into your lifestyle
that will transform your smile in 6 months then six month smiles is for you.
It is an alternative to a metal brace avoiding the stigma around having fixed braces.
It is a revolutionary orthodontic system that provides a fast & economical
Way for adults to feel confident with their smile.

Procedure
Following a free consultation to check your suitability for the six month smile brace you
will be given a full written treatment plan outlining the costing & any payment options
that have been discussed. All of the points about the brace will be discussed in depth at
the consultation.

If you do decide to go ahead with treatment the first stage is a visit with the dentist for
some moulds to be taken of your mouth. These are then sent to the specialist laboratory
where they six month smile brace is constructed to fit your mouth.

After 3-5 weeks the brace is returned to us and the dentist can then fix it to your teeth.
This appointment can take between 1-2 hours. Any adjustments needed are made to the teeth before the brace is fitted.

The clear brackets are then applied to the teeth using a special bonding agent & the mouth is kept very dry to enable them to stick on. The tooth coloured wire is then put across the teeth clear bands are attached to secure it in place. There is no pain involved at either of the appointments so there is no need for any local anaesthetic. You may experience slight discomfort initially but this is just whilst your mouth is adjusting to the brace. This will take around 1 week and you may need to eat softer foods during this time.

You will need to return for an appointment every 4-5 weeks to make any adjustments and to change the wire if needed. Sometimes the bands may also need changing and some cleaning in between the teeth is usually required during treatment.
Care should be taken to keep the brace clean and you will need to avoid sticky, chewy & hard foods. Darker foods & drinks can stain the brace.
All braces are a long term commitment and you will need to wear the retainers provided at night when you have finished treatment. This will continue to apply pressure to the teeth so as they do not move back to the start position. We also recommend that you have a bonded wire retainer fixed to the back of your teeth to provide extra retention.
Complimentary home whitening is also included with this treatment.
