Preventing pneumonia by visiting the dentist
A recent study showed that people who did not visit the dentist were almost twice as likely to develop pneumonia compared with those who visited the dentist twice a year.
– People who attend regular check-ups receive a deep clean and are also more likely to have good oral health behaviour.
– The fewer harmful bacteria in the mouth, the less likely they will be inhaled, potentially leading to the development of pneumonia.
– Visit your dentist twice a year.
“Regular dental visits may protect against pneumonia by reducing levels of harmful bacteria in the mouth.”
