Talk Therapy Can Fight Off Fear of the Dentist

If you fear the dentist, there’s hope. In one study, up to 79 percent of people who went through cognitive behavior therapy did not require sedation. The people were able to address their anxiety and honor their appointment with a dentist.

Key takeaways:

  • People with dental phobias have been found to avoid visiting the dentist and were likely to have cavities and other dental problems.
  • CBT is more effective in combating dental phobia than use of sedation since it has a long lasting impact.
