Antibacterial Mouthwash: Good or Bad?
A recent article strongly suggests we would be better off NOT using antibacterial mouthwash. The body naturally produces nitric oxide and this is transformed into salivary nitrites in the mouth which clears plaque and bacteria from the teeth.
Antibacterial mouthwash washes away the nitrites and reduces the production of nitric oxide which can cause inflammation throughout the body, leading to problems such as:
– High blood pressure
– Heart disease
– Inflammatory conditions
It is advisable to consult your dentist if you have any concerns.
