Dental Implants in Manchester – Is Cheap Always Good?
The price of dental implants in Manchester can vary considerably. In fact, a quick Google search shows prices range from the higher hundreds to the lower thousands. In anyone’s book, that’s a significant sway, but unlike other forms of cosmetic dentistry, Manchester patients should know that when it comes to tooth implants, there are many variables which can and do affect what you pay. So is cheap always good? And more importantly, if not, then what should you really be expected to pay?
The implant pricing conundrum
When we take other cosmetic treatments such as Botox in Manchester, for example, it’s pretty easy to price accurately. Why? Because each patient will have roughly the same treatment. In this instance, medical practitioners will normally charge either by area or by a unit. So, one 50 unit vial of Botox is typically enough for one patient. This covers crow’s feet (2.5 units) the forehead (20 units) and the lines between the brows (25 units) As a result, the cost is always going to be the incremental price of one or more vials, depending upon the treatment needed.
However, when it comes to dental implants, Manchester patients should know that pricing isn’t quite so straightforward. Let’s take two patients for example…
Each has a missing back tooth that requires a single implant replacement. The first patient lost their tooth a few days ago when chewing on a toffee sweet, while the second patient lost their tooth about a year ago and chose not to do anything about it, until now.
Because the first patient has acted early, they would have experienced very little or no bone loss. This is the unfortunate process that occurs naturally when teeth are missing. As such, there is very little to be done other than attach the implant and fit the crown.
Conversely, when the second patient decides to finally do something about their missing tooth, they’ve already lost up to 25% of their bone tissue. Unfortunately, the implant needs sufficient and healthy bone tissue to anchor into and ensures the best chance of longevity. So now, before the implant is placed, the patient will need to undertake a bone graft. Additionally, because the remaining teeth have gravitated towards the gap, cleaning between them has made it difficult and because of this, the patient has developed gum disease which will also need to be rectified.
While the moral of this tale is perhaps to act fast when you have a missing tooth, the wider point is that costs can and will vary from patient to patient. No treatments are the same and this is one reason why the pricing of implant-based restorations isn’t straightforward.
Cosmetic dentistry Manchester – Other reasons for implant pricing fluctuation
In addition to variations in treatments, there are a number of other reasons which can affect the price of dental implants in Manchester. Let’s take a closer look…
Implant Branding
When we talk about Botox, Manchester patients understand that it’s a brand. While there are other wrinkle treatment alternatives on the market, Botox is by far the most popular and is used by 90% of all treatment clinics. In fact, getting Botox is a bit like ‘Googling‘ something, or ‘Hoovering‘ your carpet. No one ever says ‘I really should Bing that to find out the answer? Or, ‘it’s about time I Dyson’d my carpet because it’s really dirty’. Likewise. no one says “I looked in the mirror the other day and I’ve got so many wrinkles, I think it’s about time I had some Dysport treatment” Quite simply, it just sounds weird!
When it comes to dental implants, however, you don’t have that monopolisation that other successful brands have, so given that information, then surely an implant is an implant, right?
Well, not exactly!
Did you know that there are about 10-15 major implant systems on the market and over 200 different implant companies? With brands like Nobel Biocare, Straumann Bio-horizons and Zimmer leading the way, they have decades of clinical testing and proven results. Others, however, particularly those which new to the market, don’t have the financial clout of the big players and can only compete with them in the only way they know how…Price! In other words, when it comes to dental implants you tend to get what you pay for.
The problem is unless you ask your dentist what brand of implant they use, you’re not going to know. It’s understandable that if a dentist is offering cut-price implant-restorations, one way that they can still make a decent profit is to source cheaper materials and that may mean utilising lesser-known implants. With this in mind, you might want to consider if you’d be happy with a tooth implant that doesn’t have the clinical research behind it, from a company that has no proven track record in the industry.
Experience of the dentist
Nowadays, virtually every dentist offers dental implants in Manchester as a form of missing tooth replacement. Naturally, until we get to the stage where we can regrow our own teeth, implant-based restorations are the gold standard of missing teeth replacement at this time. Therefore, it’s understandable why dentists would want to offer this service for their patients, But in addition, due to their increasing popularity, offering dental implant treatments also makes good business sense.
The problem is that as a patient, how do you know you’re getting someone with the relevant experience to handle the complexities and varieties that a particular dental implant treatment throws up? They might, for instance, need to change tack due to an unforeseen problem during surgery, so the question is… do they have the skills to be able to do this? Invariably, handling cases which aren’t straightforward often only comes with a lifetime of chairside experience.
Other added treatments
We’ve already mentioned that no two implant cases or implant patients are the same, and also the fact that an implant-based restoration can encompass a wide range of other treatments, so let’s further expand on that.
While the need for bone grafting is an obvious one, other treatments such as sinus lifting, nerve repositioning, and even teeth extraction may also be required before a dental implant can successfully be placed. Let’s say your dentist has examined your teeth and realised that certain teeth are failing. It wouldn’t be cost effective or ideal for the patient if the dentist were to try to fix them, so instead, they may decide that the best option is to replace them with dental implants. For this reason, teeth may be extracted as part of the implant restoration process.
Alternatively, in some patients, there might not be enough bone height in the upper jaw or the sinus cavity is too close to the jaw for safe implant placement. For this reason, the dentist may need to perform a sinus lift.
In rarer cases, nerve lateralisation or nerve repositioning may also be needed. This type of surgery occurs when the patient has a severe lack of jaw bone in the lower jaw. As the bone shrinks the inferior alveolar nerve moves closer to the surface of the gum line. In its current position, any dental implant placed into the jaw could damage the nerve. For this reason, it’s carefully moved or repositioned to allow more space for the implant-based restoration to take place.
The point is that when building a treatment plan, all of these factors will be taken into consideration and they will affect the final cost.
Dental Implants In Manchester – The pricing conclusion
Like many things in life you get what you pay for and dental implants are no exception. So, when you see a dental implant advertised for say £895.00 you need to ask yourself what does that entail? Is it purely for the implant? Does it include the crown and abutment? What about the Implant used? Does it reflect the experience of the dentist or any further treatments? The only way to find out is to ask the questions. Any dentist worth their salt will be more than happy to give you all the answers you need and if they don’t, or appear a little cagey, then you know what to do!
Finally, you also have to weigh up the costs of dental implants in Manchester alongside other missing tooth replacement options. For example, while dental implants may appear initially expensive, they can last for many years, giving you decades of hassle-free smiles. On the flip side, due to bone resorption, dentures and dental bridges will need replacing as they only have a shelf life of somewhere between 5-10 years. So unlike implants, they aren’t a ‘one time only’ expense and therefore quality dental implants may work out cheaper in the long-term.
There you have it, everything you need to know about dental implant cost and why pricing isn’t that straightforward.

My wife's been at this dental practice 2/3 year's and as been telling me to move to it none stop. I didn't like to leave because my dentist was fine for years, then he retired and the replacement wasn't good enough so I took my wife's advice and have moved to Cheadle Hulme Dentist. Wow what a great difference, they are brilliant, found a problem I didn't know I had and are sorting it all out Quickly and they're great 😃 tell you what is happening all the time, making you feel as if you are the most important client and really look after you. Should of moved years ago. Just First Class. John.
This was my first time at this practice. When you walk in you are greeted cheerfully and professionally. My treatment plan was explained to me in detail and I was made to feel at ease. Everywhere was clean and modern.I have no hesitation in recommending them to family and friends
This is by far the best dentist I have been to. I am a nervous patient and really appreciate that my dentist understands this and makes sure that I'm OK at every stage. I've been able to get appointments quickly and I've had prompt, painless, careful treatment when it was needed.
I have only positive comments to make about this dental practice. I had severe tooth ache and was able to get an appointment within less than 24 hours. I am an anxious dental patient but was immediately put at my ease. Unfortunately I needed a tooth extraction and was able to have this done without sedation, thanks to the kindness and patience of the team. I was so impressed that I have now changed my dental care to this practice and would highly recommend them, especially if you are nervous 💗
The practice makes a great impression being thoroughly modern and spotless inside a period building. All of the staff from reception through to the dentists and hygienists are friendly, caring and take their time to explain information clearly. This is by far the best dental practice that I have used.I highly recommend Cheadle Hulme Dental & Cosmetics.
I saw Suzie again today. She was very professional, friendly and reassuring. Made me feel completely at ease. Deane was the dental nurse and he was lovely. The receptionists were very welcoming and helpful. This is a great practice and I would certainly recommend them.
Staff are all friendly, dentist & hygienist fully experienced and knowledgeable, explains what’s going to happen before, during and after. The new premises are fresh, clean and finished to a very high standard.I highly recommended this dental practice.
Looked for a new destiny after my previous clinic closed and I couldn’t be more happy with my choice. Booking and getting an appointment is super easy and have great availability so you aren’t waiting months. The dentists and dental technicians are phenomenal, put you at ease and answer any questions. You can clearly feel that the staff enjoy working there as the environment is so welcoming and warm. 100% would recommend and looking forward for my next appointment.
The best dentist without a doubt. Every visit I feel calm and looked after and all my needs are always met. The staff are all friendly and make you feel very welcome. Have recommended to so many people and will continue to do so.
I’m a new patient but I can’t thank them enough. On my first appointment I had a full check up, x-rays and Invisalign scans with Mo (who was fab) and three quotes/estimates to fix what another a dentist messed up. The second appointment was a hygienist visit (she was so lovely) which was the most comfortable and nicest experience I’ve ever had with a cleaning appointment. I’ve now signed up for the dental plan and will be a long term customer.
Excellent Dental Practice! Suzie made my braces journey a breeze with her warm and attentive care. From the first consultation, she explained everything thoroughly and put me at ease. Suzie's expertise and attention to detail ensured smooth progress, and her kind nature made each visit enjoyable. The entire team was friendly and efficient, creating a positive environment. Thanks to Suzie, my braces treatment was a success, and I now have a beautifully aligned smile. I highly recommend this dental practice for their exceptional care and lovely staff. Thank you, Suzie, and the team, for an outstanding experience!
Upon my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised, felt very comfortable, didn't feel clinical, was greeted very politely by the receptionist. Consultation went really well everything was explained clearly and the questions asked were answered well. I didn't feel pressured into making a decision, that what I was happy about. There was no rush. Absolutely would recommend this practice to others.
Would 100% recommend! All the staff are always pleasant and welcoming. Just starting on my treatment plan journey which will hopefully include implants. Shi has explained everything clearly so far, with always the option to ask questions, which is really important and he has been first class!
The first contact was with a receptionist named Mel, very polite, clear and easy to understand. At my smile consultation, The practice, albeit on a main road, was very easy to find and parking was not an issue. The reception was welcoming /calming and I was quickly dealt with by the staff and asked if I would like a drink while waiting. my smile consultant, Caroline, called me to her consulting room which is very pleasingly decorated and furnished, as was all of the other areas I could see. Her knowledge and listening skills were very good and she spoke in a quiet but clear voice. All the information I needed was passed onto me to peruse at home. I feel confident that if I was to make a second appointment to have the examination by the dentist, that things would go well. I would recommend this practice as a good place to start for any teething problems that people may have. Jim Harrison
I came here from a recommendation from someone else.Usually going to the dentist it looks, smells and sounds like a dentist, this one is nothing like that, without sitting in the dental chair you would never know.Everyone I spoke to was really friendly and made me feel comfortable.I'd recommend Cheadle Hulme Dental to anyone, especially for people like me who hate the dentist, there is always an option to make you feel more comfortable.Coming here has restored my faith in having my teeth worked on and I'm looking forward to going back.

I am an anxious patient and they have treated me with total respect and compassion - would totally recommend for anyone that has avoided the dentist for years like me, after a dreadful experience. This is the total opposite and I feel in utterly competent, safe, caring and understanding hands!
After years of experiencing dental issues with infections under old bridgework, I am presently having three implants and bone grafts with this practice. I researched a lot before deciding to come to Cheadle Hulme Dental as this is a very intricate surgery.Dr. Shi Karim is a highly skilled and talented surgeon and has been very kind and attentive to my needs. He took the time to explain the treatment process in detail, and both he and his staff make sure that I am comfortable and at ease throughout the entire process. His clear planning and attention to detail are impressive, and I always feel reassured that I am in good hands. The timeline plan and estimates are very clear and helpful.Further, he and his team ensure that my treatment was carried out efficiently and effectively. The aftercare is also spot on and reassuring. The team’s caring approach makes all the difference. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled and compassionate dental surgeon.
I’ve recently decided to have invisalign treatment and went Cheadle Hulme Dental and Cosmetic after seeing their social media posts about their great reputation with invisalign (and other dental treatments)I’m normally quite nervous about going to the dentist, but I couldn’t have been more relaxed here . From entering the reception area which looks more like hotel lobby, instead of feeling anxious I felt at ease. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming. The clinic is beautifully presented and is so clean and high tech.I had a first appointment with Kezia who was really informative and friendly. She answered all my questions and I decided the same day to go ahead. My second appointment was with the dentist Mr Raval and the dental nurse Zara. Both were welcoming and professional and I felt in safe hands. I am so glad I made the leap to come to CH for my invisalign and will be thinking about coming here now for all my dental needs as the experience just does not compare to my usual nhs dentist!Thank you
The practice was well furnished, clean and tidy, and the team were very nice and welcoming. My dentist was very friendly and explained my treatment options clearly and allowed me to ask any questions I had so that I could make informed decisions. It was a very pleasant experience and I look forward to visiting again.
Brilliant service as always, even down to the ease of letting me change my appointment time.It was refreshing to hear that I have been doing a good job of brushing my teeth and the useful tips and tricks are always appreciated. 10/10.
The receptionists are very welcoming & efficient. The clinic is top notch & very clean. Susie, my dentist, is brilliant & so, so lovely. I warmed to her immediately & was instantly confident in her expertise. She's always checking I'm ok with everything during procedures, explains everything well & makes you feel 'looked after' & that she cares. Highly recommend.
