Time for Clear Braces? Try Clear Braces Manchester!

Use the key words “clear braces Manchester” in an internet search and the solution to crooked teeth may be just a click away. For decades the only real solution to crookedness or misalignment was to have a set of metal braces wired to the teeth.

These metal braces were awkward to wear, difficult to keep clean and rather embarrassing as they were so visible when you smiled. In today’s world, dental braces have improved greatly and are now a very popular route to achieving the beautiful smile that so many people seek.

Advances in Dentistry

A visit to a dentist is no longer a need for concern or anxiety. Great strides have been made in the past few decades as to how a patient is treated and the standard of care now provided. Sedation, when required, is safer and more effective while the equipment used is state-of-the-art and of the highest quality.

Similarly, methods for correcting dental issues such as overbites, crooked and misaligned teeth have also advanced significantly — and there is now a range of options available for patients desiring straight teeth.

The easiest, best and most successful way to correct many dental problems is with dental braces which come in different types and styles.

Clear Braces Manchester

Performing the same function as old-style metal braces, clear dental braces are more appealing as they are either translucent plastic — or moulded in a colour that closely matches the patient’s natural teeth.

Because they are more discreet or, in some cases almost invisible, clear braces are very popular with self-conscious teenagers and adults who wish to avoid the embarrassment of wearing wire braces.

Traditional braces were basically a metal framework held firmly in place by a network of brackets and wires — which pressed the teeth into the desired position.

Today’s clear dental braces work in precisely the same way — but are not as hard on the teeth and gums. Because these braces are not as strong, and don’t exert the same force as their wire predecessors, they can take a bit longer to achieve the desired results. In less complex cases, the results may actually be achieved much quicker – even within a few months.

And because they are clear, they are more discreet – and can be removed when eating or sleeping.

Most Common Uses

All dental braces perform the same basic function and this is to push problem teeth into a new position. This is done by the braces exerting a constant pressure on problem teeth and, over time, this will reposition teeth.

These misalignments are common —

  • Overbite and underbite
  • Cross bite (where the lower set of teeth are outside the upper row)
  • Open bite (where the lower and upper front teeth do not touch or they overlap)
  • Overlapped teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • Gaps or spaces between teeth

Sometimes a dentist will refer to a dental issue as a malocclusion which is a broad term for a bite being “off” or not positioned as it should be.

While straight teeth and an improved bite are the most obvious benefits of clear dental braces, there are other advantages. Misaligned teeth are difficult to clean properly which increases the risk of developing cavities and periodontitis, otherwise called gum disease.

Dental Braces and Aligners

Clear dental braces are invisible (or almost so) because of the translucent material they are made from. The “clear braces Manchester” internet search should lead to Cheadle Hulme Dental and Cosmetics on the outskirts of Manchester which has an extensive range of dental braces to choose from.

Invisalign

Probably the best-known of all invisible dental braces, Invisalign is a proven system for straightening problem teeth. The system works via a series of aligners which gradually reposition the teeth over a period of time. The aligners are custom-made for each patient and are removable for ease of cleaning.

Six Month Smiles

Another tried and trusted method of achieving straight teeth is with the Six Month Smiles system — which uses specially formed clear braces to gradually move teeth into alignment and (usually) within just six months. However, every case is different and the process may take a little more or less time.

Inman Aligner

Alignment issues with the top or bottom front teeth can be quickly resolved with the Inman Aligner. Also ideal for minor problems with crowding, the Inman Aligner is only worn for 16 to 20 hours per day and is easily removable for comfort and cleaning.

Cfast Orthodontic Brackets

Similar to clear aligners, the Cfast system uses brackets and nickel-titanium wires to maneuver the teeth into the desired position. Usually reserved for issues with the front six teeth on the bottom and top rows, the Cfast system applies gentle pressure on the teeth with minimum discomfort and works relatively quickly.

Secret Smile

Entirely invisible as they are attached to the backs of teeth, Secret Smile dental braces are designed primarily to resolve issues with the front six teeth. The Secret Smile system is targeted primarily at achieving a confident smile while also resolving minor alignment issues.

Lingual Braces

A relative newcomer, lingual braces are excellent for treating most tooth misalignment issues. Orthodontic brackets are fitted behind the teeth, making them invisible to others, and amazing results can be achieved in a matter of weeks.

Clear braces are more expensive than traditional braces as the materials used are more costly. However, they are more versatile in their applications and more comfortable to wear. There is no set time limit on how long treatment may take, but a minimum of twelve months should be expected to achieve the desired outcome.

Every case is different — and options should be thoroughly discussed with a dental professional before deciding on the best form of treatment. If self-consciousness is an issue, then clear braces, or those fitted to the backs of the teeth, may be the answer in the quest for straight teeth and a confident smile!
