How To Handle Your Child’s Tooth Grinding
Tooth grinding is damaging at any age but is particularly worrisome in children as their adult teeth are still developing:
– A morning headache is often the first symptom.
– Tooth grinding can lead to inflamed gums and cracked teeth.
– Although a nightly mouthguard can prevent any damage, a long-term plan to treat the underlying cause is better.
– Tooth grinding is often the result of stress, anxiety, hyperactivity or attention deficit disorders or a misaligned bite where the grinding relieves jaw pain.
